In today’s fast-changing digital world, media literacy and digital competence are no longer optional-they’re essential. That’s why the Think Twice project, under Work Package 2 (WP2), brought a wave of engaging, hands-on workshops to Lithuania, empowering educators across all levels: pre-service teachers, schoolteachers, and adult educators.
Over the course of several weeks, a total of 79 adult educators, 56 schoolteachers, and numerous future teachers from top Lithuanian universities took part in a series of 12 modular workshops, each built around international frameworks like the DigCompEdu and UNESCO’s “Think Critically, Click Wisely!”. The goal? Equip educators with the skills and mindset needed to navigate misinformation, leverage digital tools, and inspire critical thinking in their learners.
Across all groups, the workshops stood out for their strong balance between theory and practical application. Participants explored how to use digital tools for collaboration, assessment, inclusion, and content creation-often in real time through platforms like Google Drive, Jamboard, and Slido.
Media literacy sessions, in particular, sparked vibrant discussions. Educators tackled the nuances of misinformation and disinformation, discussed the impact of digital manipulation on society, and examined the architecture of modern media ecosystems. For many, these topics were new-and eye-opening.
“We rarely talk about this in our regular training. The media literacy topics were especially relevant.”
“I loved that we could immediately try out the tools we learned about.”
“These workshops helped me realize how much I still need to learn-and gave me the confidence to start.”
Pre-service teachers participated in blended sessions across Kaunas and Šiauliai, preparing to enter the classroom with sharper digital awareness and teaching strategies. Primary and secondary school teachers joined online and in-person sessions focused on classroom-ready solutions, sharing challenges and exploring new teaching ideas. Adult educators from vocational training centres across Lithuania engaged in rich online workshops, exchanging perspectives and co-creating learning materials. Through these workshops, Think Twice is doing more than upskilling educators-it’s laying the foundation for a digitally literate future. By helping teachers of all backgrounds think critically, engage responsibly, and teach confidently in the digital age, WP2 is turning theory into transformation.
